Welcome to the Community!!
Having a larger oplog will surely have more operations in it, but the catch is you will have to compromise with the volume of disc space being used.
A larger oplog will store more history and may be required for some use cases. For example: Workloads that Might Require a Larger Oplog Size.

It would be recommended to use similar kind of environments for production environment and for the DEV, similar with lesser resources would be recommended.
