This page describes software compatibility and installation for version 100.19.1 of mongoimport.
Starting in MongoDB 4.4, the MongoDB Database Tools are released separately from the MongoDB Server. The MongoDB Database Tools use their own versioning, with an initial version of 100.0.0.

mongoimport does not support MongoDB Server versions earlier than 4.2. Attempts to connect to an earlier Server version fail.
Note
mongoimport also works with Atlas Infinite Database clusters.
