Import an Entity-Relationship Diagram in Atlas

You can import an entity-relationship diagram into Atlas from an .mdm file. Importing diagrams can be helpful for when you want to view or edit a diagram that a collaborator shares in Atlas.

To import your entity-relationship diagram, follow the procedures to export your diagram as a .mdm file. Atlas can import an entity-relationship diagram only from .mdm files and cannot import diagrams from PNG or JSON files.

  1. If it's not already displayed, select the organization that contains your project from the Organizations menu in the navigation bar.

  2. If it's not already displayed, select your project from the Projects menu in the navigation bar.

  3. In the sidebar, click Data Explorer under the Database heading.

    The Data Explorer displays.

IMPORTANT: You can also click the name of a cluster to open the Cluster sidebar, and then click Data Explorer under the Shortcuts heading.

In the left sidebar, click Data Modeling.

After you select the .mdm file you want to import, Atlas displays the entity-relationship diagram in the Data Modeling tab.
