I’m currently in the process of migrating our self-managed MongoDB setup, hosted on three virtual machines with 16 GB memory, 8 Intel vCPUs, and 200 GB disk each, to MongoDB Atlas. I’m exploring different options for Atlas, particularly between a dedicated cluster and a shared cluster. My primary concern is understanding the cost implications. Despite reviewing the pricing for dedicated clusters, I noticed that the price remains constant even when adjusting the autoscaling cluster sizes. Therefore, I’d like to get a clear breakdown of the monthly cost, including any associated read/write operations, to ensure an accurate comparison between the two options.

You can estimate the pricing via Pricing | MongoDB or use the in-Atlas cluster builder to get estimates for various cluster scenarios. Before you deploy, Atlas gives you both the hourly and monthly cost estimate!
