A Recap of MUGs, November 2024

:earth_asia:Looking for a recap of our latest MongoDB User Groups (MUGs)? Every month, all around the globe, members of our community come together to talk tech and all things MongoDB.

The Ahmedabad MongoDB User Group, led by @viraj_thakrar and @Vishal_Turi, hosted a workshop in collaboration with AWS User Group Ahmedabad on Oct 20th. This dual-session event empowered attendees with essential skills on AWS IAM Authentication and LDAP Integration with MongoDB Atlas, followed by a hands-on dive into MongoDB Atlas Search. Participants learned key practices for building secure and efficient applications, creating search indexes, and optimizing queries.

MUG Ahmedabad

The Toronto MongoDB User Group, led by @Leonardo_Gomes and @chris, hosted a in-person meetup on October 22, 2024, at Marsh McLennan in downtown Toronto. Attendees were treated to talks by @Rishit_Bhatia, Senior Product Manager at MongoDB, who introduced the latest in .NET development, and @Raj_Jain1, Senior Solutions Architect at MongoDB, who highlighted key features in MongoDB 8.0. MUG Toronto

The Austin MongoDB User Group, led by @Matt_Griffith, hosted a meetup on October 23, 2024, at the MongoDB Office. The event, held in partnership with Grafana, featured two compelling talks. Jen Villa, Director of Product Management at Grafana, kicked off with a presentation on Grafana’s “Explore Traces” experience and advancements in distributed tracing, highlighting tools like OSS Tempo and Grafana Cloud Traces. Matt followed with a hands-on introduction to MongoDB’s Atlas CLI and Administration API, showcasing efficient ways to manage Atlas clusters and indexes without a browser.

MUG Austin

The Belgrade MongoDB User Group hosted a session on October 24, 2024, focusing on semantic search with MongoDB Atlas. Led by @NeNaD, MongoDB Champion and Senior Software Engineer at Flatfee, the event welcomed Belgrade’s tech enthusiasts to explore the revolutionary possibilities of semantic search. @lukovic_aleksa, a freelance AI/ML engineer, took the audience through an insightful presentation, covering the fundamentals of embedding models, vector databases, and configuring vector search indexes on MongoDB Atlas.

MUG Belgrade

The Seville MongoDB User Group hosted a hybrid session on October 24, 2024, in collaboration with Cloud Native Sevilla, titled “Devcontainers + MongoDB: a $match Made in Heaven.” The event, held at Espacio RES, featured @Diego_Freniche, Senior Developer Advocate at MongoDB, who presented on devcontainers, their applications in local development, and their integration with GitHub Codespaces. Diego’s expertise, honed over 30 years in the tech industry, made the session both educational and inspiring for all. Organized by @Ivan_Garcia_Yebra, frontend developer at DSS Network and MUG Leader, the event concluded with a lively meetup at a nearby spot, giving attendees a chance to network and discuss insights shared during the talk. The Seville MUG continues to foster a vibrant community for MongoDB enthusiasts in Spain!

MUG Seville

On November 7, 2024, @Suhani_Chawla hosted Dublin MongoDB User Group’s first hands-on workshop at the MongoDB office, focusing on MongoDB Atlas Search and Vector Search. The session was led by @Harshit, Senior Community Manager. Participants delved into full-text search using Atlas Search and explored semantic search capabilities with Atlas Vector Search. The interactive format allowed attendees to engage directly with the technologies, enhancing their understanding and skills. The event concluded with a networking session, fostering connections within the Dublin MongoDB community. Thanks to all who joined and contributed to the evening’s success!
