Here are some of our latest gatherings.
We wrapped up the 2024 MUG Leaders Summit, where 28 leaders from 16 cities across ASEAN and India, representing over 10,000 developers, came together for three days of discussions, workshops, and product briefings. This summit empowered our MUG leaders with the tools and knowledge to grow their communities and drive MongoDB adoption. We are excited to see the incredible impact they’ll create in their regions!
The Kigali MUG, led by Delphine and Kayiranga, hosted an interactive workshop on August 24th, 2024, at Carnegie Mellon University Africa. The event, supported by the Women in Tech Club at CMU Africa, focused on creating compelling search experiences using MongoDB Atlas Search and Vector Search. Attendees engaged in a hands-on, self-paced learning experience, diving deep into search indexing, aggregation pipelines, and semantic search capabilities.
The Bengaluru MUG, led by @DarshanJayarama, @Naveen_Kumar_Singh, and @Pallaav_Sethi, hosted a successful event on August 24th, 2024, at Contentstack’s office in Bengaluru. The event featured insightful talks by Saqib Subaan, Sr. Manager - DBA at Contentstack, and Murugavel Natarajan, Sr. Product Manager at Contentstack, on building scalable applications. Nabil Nalakath, Sr. Software Engineer at Pramana, shared his expertise on MongoDB Changestreams. The day also included a hands-on workshop on Atlas Vector Search, led by MUG Leaders Darshan and Naveen.
The Kolkata MUG, led by @Sumanta_Mukhopadhyay, hosted a workshop on August 31st, 2024, focused on creating compelling search experiences using MongoDB Atlas Search and Vector Search. The event, held at the Yamuna Building in South Dumdum, featured hands-on sessions where participants explored the intricacies of full-text search and semantic search, enhancing their application development skills.
The MUG in Florianópolis, led by @Mateus_Leonardi, @Davi_Orlandi, and @Lucas_Aguiar, hosted an in-person event on September 3, 2024. The meetup was held at Neoway’s office and included sessions such as a presentation by Mateus on transitioning from SQL to NoSQL for improved UX and software optimization, and a case study with Woovi, led by Sibelius Seraphini. The event also featured a hands-on workshop on Vector Search.
The Colorado MUG kicked off its first meetup on September 4, 2024, at the Boulder Public Library. Organized by @Jacob_Latonis, Staff Software Engineer at Proofpoint, the event featured a mix of networking, discussions, and presentations. Attendees enjoyed a session on transitioning from RDBMS to MongoDB, followed by an open chat and discussion about MongoDB’s applications and trends.
MUG Meetups came back to in Seville with an event held on September 13, 2024, at ETSII Universidad de Sevilla. Organized and led by @Diego_Freniche and Ivan Yebra, the event featured a talk on MongoDB and MongoDB Atlas, followed by a hands-on workshop on building a CRUD app using the MERN stack.
The Belgium MUG held a workshop on September 12th, 2024, at ACA Group’s Antwerp office. Hosted by @Kenneth_Westelinck, the event focused on creating search experiences using MongoDB Atlas Search and Vector Search. Attendees participated in hands-on activities, exploring MongoDB’s advanced search capabilities in real-life web applications.
The HCMC MUG hosted an event in Da Nang City titled “GenAI Acceleration with MongoDB Atlas” on September 12, 2024, at Enouvo Building. Organized by @Hailey_Dinh from MongoDB, the event featured talks by @Phong_Le (Senior Solutions Architect, MongoDB), Lai Pham (CTO, Diaflow), Quang Pham (Head of Engineering, Everfit), and Truong Vo (Senior Fullstack Developer, ONE). The sessions covered topics like building gen AI apps with MongoDB Atlas, real-life use cases, and concluded with a lively panel discussion and networking session.
The Wellington MUG held its fifth meetup on September 11th, 2024, at the AWS office on Lambton Quay. The event kicked off with Tim Gray from Wipster discussing the migration of stakeholders and apps to MongoDB, providing valuable insights into managing data and key personnel during such transitions. Erich Kuba from Cloudize Limited followed with an in-depth exploration of client-side field-level encryption, highlighting both its benefits and challenges. The evening concluded with a fun Kahoot quiz, networking opportunities, and great discussions. Thanks to the presenters, Karl Stirnemann, and the team from Amazon Web Services (AWS) for hosting us!
