Enable Faster Cross-Project Restores

On this page

  • Considerations
  • Procedure

Atlas provides efficient cross-project restores for clusters that have Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure nodes. If you have clusters with AWS nodes created before March 27, 2024, you can enable faster cross-project restores. Atlas automatically provides efficient cross-project restores for clusters with AWS nodes created after March 27, 2024.

  • The Faster Restore button appears only for Atlas clusters with AWS nodes created before March 27, 2024. This button doesn't appear for MongoDB Atlas for Government clusters.

  • When you enable faster cross-project restores, Atlas replaces each node in your clusters in a rolling fashion during your next maintenance window.

  • This replacement might take longer than the defined maintenance window.

  • Secondary reads and analytic nodes are unavailable during this change.

  • When the replacement completes, Atlas sends an email confirmation.
