Content Formats

MongoDB courses are online and free. You can do them at your pace and at the most convenient time for you. We have several different types of content designed to support your learning needs.
Learning Paths: Long form learning for various career paths and Certification prep.
Courses: Comprehensive coverage for a range of topics from Getting Started to Data Modeling.
Units: Learn about the specifics of a MongoDB feature in under an hour.
Learning Bytes: Quick lessons in under 20 minutes.
Labs: MongoDB's Educational platform offers a lab aspect with interactive, hands-on experiences that allow for learning by doing. These labs combined with quizzes form the practice section in the majority of our MongoDB University courses. There is a separate Lab zone which offers hands-on learning experiences outside of a given course. Our labs have all the setup and software installation already completed, so you can jump right into learning the specific lab topic.

Learning Paths

MongoDB University offers multiple learning paths to suit you. All of these learning paths align to certification exams or learning badges that you can take to demonstrate your knowledge. These are just general guidelines if you don't know where to start.

Associate Developer Learning Paths

These learning paths combine the units from a series of courses to teach you MongoDB skills. You’ll learn the basics of building modern applications with your programming language of choice, using MongoDB as your database. When you complete a Developer learning path, you will receive 50% off an Associate Developer certification exam attempt.

DBA Learning Path

This learning path contains a series of units to help you, as a Database Administrator, learn MongoDB knowledge and skills. In this path, you’ll learn MongoDB basics as well as how to administer and maintain a MongoDB database. When you complete this learning path, you will receive 50% off of a MongoDB Database Administrator exam attempt.

Atlas Administration Learning Path

This learning path guides you through the foundations of MongoDB Atlas, the multi-cloud developer data platform. You'll learn how to quickly get up and running with a free MongoDB Atlas Cluster. We'll go over the basics on how to create, secure, monitor and administer your new cluster using the UI and the CLI.
When you complete this learning path, you will receive 50% off a MongoDB Associate Atlas Administrator Exam attempt.

Data Modeling Learning Path

This learning path guides you through the foundational steps of creating an effective data model in MongoDB. When you complete this learning path, you will receive 50% off a MongoDB Associate Data Modeler Exam attempt.

Building GenAI Apps Learning Badge Path

This learning path guides you through the foundations of building a GenAI application with MongoDB's Atlas Vector Search. You'll learn about semantic search and how you can leverage it across a variety of use cases. Then, you'll learn how to build your own chatbot by creating a retrieval augmented generation (RAG) application with MongoDB and LangChain. To earn your badge, complete the content in this learning path and pass a short final assessment. You will receive an email with your official Credly badge and digital certificate within 24 hours.

Deploying and Evaluating GenAI Apps Learning Badge Path

This learning path helps you take your GenAI application from creation to full deployment, focusing on optimizing performance and evaluating results. You'll explore chunking strategies, performance evaluation techniques, and deployment options in MongoDB for both prototyping and production stages. We recommend completing the Building GenAI Apps Learning Badge Path before beginning this path. To earn your badge, complete the content in this learning path and then pass the short assessment at the end. You will receive an email with your official Credly badge and digital certificate within 24 hours.

MongoDB University Courses

In addition to the certification and badge learning paths, we have a large catalog of courses available. Here are just a few.
Level: Intermediate
This course will provide you with an introduction to artificial intelligence and vector search. You'll learn how to generate embeddings for your data, store your embeddings in MongoDB Atlas, and index and search your embeddings to perform a semantic search. You'll also learn how to build and use hybrid search that leverages text search capabilities of Atlas Search and semantic search capabilities of Atlas Vector Search. After you become familiar with how vector search works, you'll use it to build a Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) application to build a custom chatbot. Finally, you'll learn key commands for managing your vector search indexes in the Atlas CLI and MongoDB Shell.
Level: Intermediate
This course is designed to help you use Atlas Search in your applications for a seamless full-text search experience. You’ll learn how to write Atlas Search queries and manage search indexes by using the Atlas UI, CLI, and MongoDB Shell. Then you’ll build on this foundation by writing advanced search queries that use the compound operator, nesting, and features such as fuzzy search and autocomplete..

MongoDB for SQL Professionals

Level: Introductory
This course guides you through the foundational knowledge and skills needed to use MongoDB as a SQL Professional. You'll learn about MongoDB's document model and the basics of data modeling, indexes and aggregation with MongoDB. Additionally, this course covers key features that help you, as a SQL professional, use MongoDB.

MongoDB Learning Bytes

Learning Bytes are short videos that help you pick up knowledge on MongoDB in 20 minutes or less. With over Learning 40 Bytes, you can quickly learn about the newest features and latest releases.

Intro to MongoDB Change Streams

Learn how to utilize MongoDB Change Streams with your application to access real-time data changes and react to them.

Atlas Stream Processing

Learn core concepts of streaming data and how Atlas Stream Processing transforms building event-driven applications by continuously processing streams of data.

Queryable Encryption

Learn about Queryable Encryption's process of encrypting sensitive client-side data, securely storing it in the database, and executing queries on the encrypted data.

Get MongoDB Certified

If you have built enough experience with MongoDB, you can get certified and be officially recognised as a MongoDB expert.
Four certifications are available:
Once certified, you will receive a Credly badge and appear in the list of MongoDB Certified Professionals which can be found in the MongoDB Credly Directory. MongoDB official certification badges are a great addition to your LinkedIn profile.
MongoDB University is the best place to learn MongoDB. You can start watching MongoDB University videos- no MongoDB account necessary.
