An overview of BDR to CRO

We launched MongoDB’s business development representative to chief revenue officer (BDR to CRO) program in 2019, underscoring our commitment to MongoDB being an inflection point in your career.

This development program gives every employee—from entry level to seasoned seller—a transparent, performance-based path for career growth. It lays out clear standards of excellence and promotion criteria, but it also recognizes that success isn’t one-size-fits-all. Careers don’t just move up a ladder; they branch, pivot, and evolve. Our job is to give you the tools, support, and clarity to grow in the direction that matches your strengths and ambitions.

  • Our Field Readiness program equips junior sellers to succeed in enterprise field sales, with a curriculum on account planning, pipeline generation, champion planning, and more—plus coaching from senior leadership.

Each year, we expand our BDR to CRO program with new tracks and upskill offerings to meet the needs of our sales organization.

Aspiring Manager

As one of our flagship programs, Aspiring Manager has helped build MongoDB’s strong pipeline of sales leaders for years. Over 90% of graduates are promoted after completion.

The program spans about nine months, covering recruiting, inclusive leadership, performance management, and more. Participants learn alongside a cohort of peers across the sales organization, forming a community of future leaders.

Leadership development doesn’t end there. Once in role, leaders receive ongoing training—from Crucial Conversations to Sales Leadership Training to the Leadership Development program—so growth never stops.

International mobility

MongoDB employees work in 20+ countries, and many sales employees have relocated to support customers or build out teams in new regions. International opportunities may arise and can be a powerful way to grow your career.
