Mongodb Shell not working

I am having trouble getting mongodb shell working on my computer. I am very new but I am doing a tutorial that is using mongodb locally and I can’t get it to boot up. I use brew services start mongoldb-community (version 5) and it says successfully started. However if type in brew services list it says error. When I type in mongo after the “successfully started” message I get

I am using macOS Big Sur V11.4

successful message when use brew services start mongodb-community
==> Successfully started mongodb-community (label: homebrew.mxcl.mongodb-community)

message when checked brew services list
mongodb-community error 3584 root ~/Library/LaunchAgents/homebrew.mxcl.mongodb-community.plist

I tried uninstalling everything and putting it back but it still doesnt work. Every tutorial just shows them putting brew services start mongoldb-community then typing in mongo and it works.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Did you try brew services start mongodb-community@5.0?

Hello ramachandra,
It seems to be the same. successfully started and it says error when I hit brew services list. and same error when trying to start mongo.

Could be permissions or missing directories or lock file issues

Remove /tmp/mongodb-27017.sock file and try to start again

Rego350 Pa post from sept 21 from link you sent me and I am still getting the same error.

The default dir /data/db is missing
You have to create this or choose another dirpath.You may have to edit your config file to point to new path
Also on Macos access to root folders is removed.So it may not allow your to create the /data/db

I will try and read through those logs next time more thoroughly because it says right there what the problem is. I appreciate your help.
